How To Hang Christmas Lights On Roof Peak

Hanging Christmas lights on your roof peak will be the finishing touch to your beautifully decorated home during the holiday season. How To Hang Christmas Lights
1. Measure the distance of the space that you wish to decorate by placing the end of your measuring tape at one corner of your home’s foundation, and then walk it down the other end. Most light packages come in 25-foot, 50-foot, or 100-foot lengths, which you can divide into the number of feet you have measured to get the number of strings required to cover the entire roof ridges. Know which outlet works best for providing power to your Christmas lights.
Locate the electrical outlet closest to your starting point on the outside of the home, and then look for ones close to that point on the inside of your home. If you have no choice but to use the indoor outlet, slightly open the window and make sure your wires are as thin as possible.
2. Check each Christmas light string to ensure that each light works by plugging each string into an electrical outlet and inspecting each bulb. Based on your results, replace missing or burned-out bulbs, or the entire string. Remove bulbs by unscrewing them one at a time. Place the shingle tab in between the bulb and the socket, and screw the bulb back into place. Repeat the process as necessary for each bulb in your set, there should be a bulb and socket on either side of each shingle tab.
3. Place the ladder to match the height of your roof’s ridge. Slide the ladder’s two sections apart from each other to extend its length, and allow the latch to catch the ladder’s leg when you reach the roof’s ridge. Make sure all four legs are securely set to the ground, and you have enough room to reach the roof’s ridges without standing on the top of the ladder. Connect an extension cord and route it to the starting point for the lights. Slide the extension cord through a crack in the window closest to the roof ridge, and set it at the corner or base of your home.
4. Plug in the first string of Christmas lights, do not turn on their power yet. Start hanging the Christmas lights; light the closest shingle at the corner of the roof ridge and place the first shingle tab underneath with the other hand. Don’t worry about releasing your grip, the weight of the shingle will hold the shingle tab in place. Continue inserting the shingle tab under the shingles until you reach the end of the light string.
